Twitter

I think it’s actually gotten to the point where Twitter Whale jokes are kind of stale, but I still found this funny…
Twitter’s routing structure + it’s abundant downtime = These Results in the Firefox Smart Location Bar

Expanding on My Last Post…

…apparently America agrees more than ever. The percentage of Americans who disapprove of Bush’s work reached 76% in the CNN/Gallup poll released today.
To put it in historical perspective, check out the chart tab. The article is actually kind of kind by just noting that no other president has crossed the 70% mark. [...]

Why did the GOP lose?

Saturday, November 8, 2008 16:00 No Comments

There is a ton of discussion right now about why the GOP was crushed this week. Most of it is noise.

Some (inexplicably) think that the GOP has lost independents because they aren’t conservative enough
Some think it was because McCain’s strategy centered on baseless attacks (i.e. calling Obama a socialist, communist, terrorist)
Or was it because [...]

Real Economics

I love this post from Oliver Willis (a liberal blogger that I read). It’s short, to the point, and speaks to something that I’ve always thought is obvious.
In my mind, there shouldn’t be much of an argument about economic policy between the parties. Those of us who are interested/educated in economics can argue [...]

Microsoft Giving Development Suite Away to Startups?

Friday, November 7, 2008 14:56 No Comments

This new strategy from Microsoft is interesting and out of character for them. As a technologist who is partial to startups and had the (mostly unfortunate) experience of working for Microsoft for a short time, I had to comment.
I can’t imagine this gaining MSFT much market share. The key, early personnel at startups [...]

The campaign used their presence on the web to mobilize and organize supporters, offering personalized sites and tools and information to help supporters help Obama. For instance, while McCain’s website pushed empty messages [...]

Lipstick Confessions

Did Palin not know what countries are in NAFTA?
Did she think that Africa was a country?
Did Fox News willingly hold back information about Palin and the infighting on the McCain-Palin campaign until after the election?
Interesting stuff:

Remember When Nader Was Relevant?

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 17:57 1 Comment

It wasn’t that long ago (the 2000) election, where Ralph Nader was very relevant. He arguably shifted enough votes away from Al Gore to give W the victory.
I also remember attending a Pearl Jam concert in Chicago a few months before the election and having Eddie Vedder encourage the full arena to chant [...]

This is the CNN.com projection at the start of the day. Here’s to keeping it true, or turning it even more blue today!

Mudslinging and Religion in Politics

Monday, November 3, 2008 21:36 No Comments

This is an interesting commentary about tactics used by Elizabeth Dole (incumbent Senator from North Carolina) who is in danger of losing her seat to Kay Hagan.
Embedded video from CNN Video
I think most would agree that the deliberate deceit in the ad is pretty absurd. However, the part that gets me…how is religion even [...]
